Handstand is known as Adho Mukha Vrksasana, which means downward facing tree.
It is a challenging inversion which require great endurance, strength and spatial awareness.
Good preps are scapular push-ups and tuck jumps from downward facing dog.
Recommended progression is chest to wall -> preparation asanas -> kick-up against wall -> kick-up to free handstand -> hold for longer time -> leg variations
