Purva literally means the east. It also means the whole front of the body, from the forehead to the toes. Uttana means an intense stretch. The Reverse Plank Pose strongly stretches the entire front of the body, while strengthening the arms, shoulders, glutes and core muscles and range of motion in the shoulders.
