Headstand or sirsasana stimulates the pineal and pituitary gland. Targets the Crown Chakra.

When saying ”headstand” without specification, it usually means Salamba Sirsasana A, which is the most commonly practiced headstand. Most students have easiest with this one, although it’s not uncommon to find Mukta Hasta Sirsasana A (Tripod Headstand) easier.

Most leg variations are just variations of this pose, but a few are considered poses on their own, including Lotus in Headstand and Upward-facing staff pose.
